- About | Boise Christian Homes
About the Village Our Mission is to exemplify Christ’s direction “No Greater Love” by taking care of retired ministers, missionaries, low-income seniors, widows, and the disabled that are able to live independently by providing affordable housing, food, and utilities in a safe secure Christian environment. Our History In 1946 Arnold and Eva Kernan saw a need left by the Second world war, orphans. So, they founded the Christian Children’s Home in Boise, ID. It immediately filled to capacity and at the same time they had another dream that was an apparent need. Ministers who when they retired had no home, (they had lived in parsonages) no retirement, and meager social security if any, missionaries who had to return to the U.S. with no means, Christian workers who had given a life of service who were literally left on the street. In 1977 the Children’s Home moved to the Ranch setting, leaving 8.03 acres with houses on North 36th Street vacant. The homes were remodeled in to 26 one- and two-bedroom apartments there is a central dining hall on the property. Boise Christian Homes, Inc. had a dream, it came in to being, a Children’s Home and a community for Senior Saints, an overlooked population then as overlooked as it is still today. What We Offer We're a non-profit organization that provides safe and affordable housing in a community of faith. The Village provides apartments and homes on 8 1/2 acres for Christian independent-living elderly i.e. retiring ministers, missionaries and/or their spouses, elders, deacons, teachers & laypersons who worked in God's service and were unable to set aside retirement funds. We have 1-bedroom apartments for singles, as well as 2 and 3, bedroom units. Get in Touch Please feel free to reach out via phone or email with any questions. We also have a big need for donations and volunteers so please, don't be shy! Get in Touch

Get Involved We love our volunteers! Whether you're a family, individual, church group, or (anyone) we'd love to give you an opportunity to serve. Volunteer We run on a shoestring budget. The rent collected only covers about 70% of the costs, the remainder is provided through individual donations. God has always provided. Volunteers help us get both large and small projects completed. In Person 3223 36th St. Boise, ID 83703 By Phone (208) 344-0551 Online Donate Donate Your tax-deductible donation will help provide meals, rent, and supplies for residents at the Boise Christian Retirement Village. Do you know about these smart ways to support Boise Christian Homes without writing a check? Would you like to reduce your tax bill and help retired missionaries and pastors at the same time? Many Christians often overlook these ways to save their checking account and make their donations stretch further. Giving Appreciated Stock Why pay Capital Gains taxes on selling stock, leaving you just a portion of its value to spend? When transferred directly to BCH, all of the capital gains taxes are eliminated for outright stock gifts. Those who itemize can also claim the stock’s full value as a charitable deduction. In turn, BCH pays no taxes to sell it, and our programs then benefit from its full value. Please contact us for stock transfer instructions Stocks can also fund a Life Income Gift, such as a charitable gift annuity. Please contact us for an illustration of the benefits you could receive and for special transfer instructions. IRA Rollover Gifts Thanks to legislation enacted in 2015, you may be able to transfer a charitable distribution from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to charity. Now that so few Americans can itemize to claim charitable gifts, this is one of your few opportunities to give and still save on taxes. You must be 70 ½ years old or older. Your gift counts towards your required minimum distribution but is not included in your taxable income. Your IRA administrator must make the distribution directly to the charity. You can also name IRA funds to BCH through a simple change of beneficiary form. IRA funds left to non-spouse heirs are heavily taxed. Real Estate Gifts Contact Boise Christian Homes to initiate a real estate gift such as a second home, or contact us to learn more. You can also leave real estate to BCH through your estate plan.* * All funds donated will be considered funds to Boise Christian Homes, Inc., and will be allocated under the direction of the Board.
